MechWarrior: Living Legends Free Reticle System

Today we debut to our MechWarrior: Living Legends community a feature that even we ourselves had long though was not possible: a free reticle aiming system.

Not along will this system allow players more flexibility in their interactions with our BattleMechs, the feature will introduce an additional layer of tactical choice when selecting a ‘Mech from the available options as each ‘Mech will have a custom implementation of the feature that is specific to its capabilities.

Lead Programmer “Ingrater” has prepared a narrated demonstration video showing the progress of this feature on the Blood Asp assault ‘Mech.

There will be 3 aiming modes available (via a toggle) in the released version:

   1. the current aiming model in which all weapons on the arms and torsos are bound to the torso movement limits
   2. separate control over both torso weapons and reticle
   3. torso-follow mode in which the torso weapons will attempt to “follow” the arm mounted weapons controlled by the free reticle

I hope you will join me in congratulating Ingrater, the MWLL Art department and the rest of the MWLL team on this amazing accomplishment.
