I would like to be the first to annouce and congratulate my brother Daniel (Kamikaze) for being invited to work for the award winning game development studio "Bioware ". Daniel (Kamikaze)beat out 1000's of other applicants in Edmonton, Alberta and in no small part due to his work on "MechWarrior: Living Legends" gained him the respect and admiration of the staff at Bioware's studios. This is a very exciting time for everyone on the project and very obviously for Kamikaze as well so please join me in congratulating him on finally achieving the dream of most modders by getting into the industry at such as respectable studio!! |

There has been ongoing talk regarding MWLL switching or "porting" all the assets over to a new engine for the last few months and we believe it's time to change game engines. There is alot of reasons for this...one of the more important ones being the overall popularity of ET:QW diminishing as well as the constant pushing back of release dates. Right now the title will be releasing at around the same time as other engines that are far superior in ALL regards, namely Crysis. There were many things we wanted to achieve in ET:QW that are inherently not possible or very difficult to do. One of them being achieving the true MechWarrior scale. Since in ET:QW we are restricted to a 1 square mile map there really isn't alot we can do with hulking battlemechs on such a small map. Crysis features maps up to 60KM wide and with view distances between 14km and 60km! Being a NextGen Game, Crysis offers us far more features for us to use to our advantage - Time of Day Lighting, Dynamic Soft Shadows, God Rays, 3D Ocean Technology, Motion Blur, and Fully Interactive/Destructible Environment and many more! Also, Crysis offers a far more sophisticated SDK for us to work with and will enable us to produce levels and assets far quicker than what was possible in ET:QW. |

Well, MWLL will be using the Crysis engine, therefore these news are probably some of the last we'll have on ET:QW. Finally, after months and months of "when it's done" instead of any estimates, Splash Damage finally announced the release date for ET:QW. This is the moment you have been waiting for: id Software CEO Todd Hollenshead just announced the official release date for the PC version of Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars during the id press conference at QuakeCon! Without further ado, here's the scoop: ETQW is slated to ship in North America on October 2, 2007, while Europeans will get their hands on it the Friday before (September 28). Mark your calendars, gentlemen! |
