MechWarrior: Living Legends

The Numerous submissions for Clan Recruitment Posters from last month were outstanding. It was hard for us to pick only the best from the grand selection from what was given.  However, we did nail it down to the top 8 from last month based on both originality and craftsmanship. Congratulations to our winners! Your Posters will be seen in game in various locations in MWLL!



Due to the great success of last months numerous submissions, we’ve decided to do an encore Recruitment Poster Contest! We hope to see your very best and we will grade based off the same criteria as last month. We’re really excited to see what new posters that you will create this month, so bust out those photoshop skills!

We will be accepting new and old groups alike for this month so feel free to submit more posters even if you submitted last month.

The Rules are the same as last Months
- You must Identify your group with a unique Name on your poster (Clan Smoke Jaguar - Elite Warriors / Clan Smoke Jaguar - 5th Battalion ect...)
- All Posters must have both the Group’s Name and Emblem Showing
- All Posters must have at least 1 Mech Showing
- All Posters must include a highly visible URL to Clan Website
- Resolution Size of Image must be no less than 512x512 pixels
- Recommended to have a small catch phrase
- Jpeg, PNG, BMP formats preferred (Archived in .zip format is also acceptable)

No pornography or other wise offensive images and text will not be accepted.

Posters may be used as is or modified slightly to fit what we need (meaning resized for the most part.)  Once put in game you MAY NOT demand of us to take the poster out, we do not wish to change parts of levels after the fact.  Also we will not compensate the artist in any way including giving credit to or any monetary exchange.  By submitting a poster in this thread you are agreeing to abide by these rules.  Also be advised that we do not guarantee to use your poster if we deem unfit for use in MWLL.

I believe in all fairness, that if you have already created a "winning", that it would perhaps be fair to say that submitting poster which are close to the original (revisions, mild changes, ect) probably don't have a very good chance of being picked again.

I think we're looking for "original" entries for the encore.

What about if we submit a new one?  Or is it once youve one, leave room for the others?

Just keep submitting, but tell us if, if necessary, you'd rather see the old one replaced or prefered over the more recent submission.

Just a thought (Yes I know I´m fantasizing again, that I actually can think *ouph*... who said that! not me, over there!)

Could this little post of yours (this on, I said and pinned my head to the desk), be implemented as an extra feature in the actual game, so any “member” of your community (me) or clans (my alter ego(s)) can continue to post or update their art, may it even be a server feature so clans can post their own art at a specified place in the game itself? *drool*

I am certainly aware the threat from hackers that will spam such a feature. And also how should it be implemented on a server? By an Admin solely, or is it done by community vote? And also how may this affect “load of graphics” when starting a map. Each map would need to have a specified number of “place holders” to eventually be implement the new art in the game. Graphics would have to be uploaded to a specific target on a server, and manually or automatically implemented in the game, again only an Admin may place the art on a given target (place)?

p.s. this question is not related to Unit Logos? Ellements from Cannon Uniforms? at all, thou the point given on that part, is a good one too, and visibly southing.

Actually, I think thats basically the plan, but calling it a "contest" makes it easier to explain (since we will of course be choosing the most ascetically pleasing, there obviously are "winners" of sorts).

I have been actually kind of curious if it would be possible for use to setup an "advertisement" system like that in BF2142, except use the clan posters chosen instead of real ads.

I don't know if such a system would be worth the extra netowork lag from streaming it.  Though I suppose it could get the information while the map is loading and display it?  Maybe its possible by having some coding that is a index of spots in a map where posters are and their current image, then the server reads the servers "adertisers index" and randomly chooses one repaths the texture.

But if thats possible imagine what we could do with it.  Dynamic terrain textures anyone? (like changing barren ground to snow covered.)

Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of dynamic decals, and simply renaming files ;).

Like I said, I have NO idea how to do it right now, but it would be an interesting idea.

How about ads relating to the timeline or the BT world... for example, take MW4 (ancient I Know) when you run around the arena, you can see ads relating to comstar communication, but you can have the bars, the areana..etc etc?

hmmm....no new submissions??

Wish I had known about this in time to put up a few posters. Only a few of us still play mechwarrior but I love the game and hope this mod gives new life to it.  Thanks for letting me post. I dont care if you use it in your mod or not but I do like feedback on my artwork. Spent a good bit of time maping my hauptman. Thx again.

gotcha, don't really know much about clans except for what I've read in the Jade Falcon Trilogy.

I did not check back here after I posted .   I am one of the only people left out of our old MW4 clan and I haven’t played in a long time. I do have Crysis and hope to play again once you guys release your mod

BTW.. on a side note a few of these posters portray units as "Clan" that are not.  The clans were defined by Kerensky after the exodus from the Inner Sphere.  The original clans are all that the home world clans would allow to be a part of the Grand Council.

I mean I know people call units clans in FPS, but this isn't a FPS and it is based on Btech.  No offense intended just pointing it out.

should it then be called Tribe (no that´s a UK child series) or House (no that´s IS), Bureau (no to official), or mayst it be Order (to mediaeval).

Your right that the term is solely applied to a specific group in the CBT universe making them distinct from the Houses etc.. of the IS, as well as the Mercenary and Pirate side.

i think "Tribe" should be reserved for the Minnesota Tribe...

and agree that only true BT Clans should hold title to "Clan ___"

what to call them....maybe Units? Organizations? (lame), Cells? (too "24") umm...running out of ideas...help!

How about "Company"?  ie...the "Red Dog" Company,  or you can go with a Generic name...kinda like

"Hanson's Roughrider's"...i know that's BT canon...but you could allow original ones!
