Title: Desire for CBT Post by: Chaoswolf on April 25, 2008, 10:46:17 PM i really want to do some classic battle tech action right now. Whip out the books and start kicking some arse all over the place.
Title: Re: Desire for CBT Post by: siodseraph on April 25, 2008, 11:57:59 PM Wish I could join you but I never played - maybe we can set something up over the Internet with TeamSpeak? Granted: We would have to dice and not lie about it or use some virtual dice that can be used online and everyone can see the dices :P But that would be a great thing! Maybe add some nice GUI ... some effects ... some storyline! And BAM .... you have Mech Commander ... lol :P
No for real: Is there a way can set something up over the internet? Would love to try that .. Title: Re: Desire for CBT Post by: AoP on April 26, 2008, 03:36:13 AM I'm with this team for far more than a year now and never ever had the desire to play CBT... do I need medication?
;D Title: Re: Desire for CBT Post by: Chaoswolf on April 26, 2008, 11:17:51 AM naw no meds needed, i just need to smack up upside the head then make you play one of MY cbt games. I do everything down to the smallest detail if it matters. Think battle tech overlaid on DnD
Title: Re: Desire for CBT Post by: Kelembai on April 27, 2008, 07:48:47 PM and here i thought only us oldtimers ever missed CBT. no meds needed, just a healthy dose of MegaMek ;D.
Title: Re: Desire for CBT Post by: ToeBall on April 27, 2008, 09:48:19 PM Who needs CBT when you can do this to a Demolisher?

On one hand I want to curse your name for teasing us so mercilessly. On the other, I want to cattleprod Kit into singing your praises for showing us those vids on Flickr. :D
[EDIT: Fixed that whole TeoBall debacle.] Title: Re: Desire for CBT Post by: ToeBall on April 27, 2008, 11:33:27 PM I can tell you're emotional enough to even spell my name wrong. I'm actually torn between saving stuff for a suprise or putting up more play test vids as we go. They aren't actually meant for wide distribution so I'll probably stop posting links but continue posting vids and screen caps as we continue the pre-alpha. Once we do go into full alpha it'll probably have to go back to the way things have been with just the news letter since I'll be busy again. Those vids, btw, ate 4gb of drive space in their raw form and shaved about 10-20 frames per second off during play.

Especially those particle effects and the final explosion! You guys doing heck of a job ... this game gonna blow our minds! Title: Re: Desire for CBT Post by: siodseraph on April 28, 2008, 02:42:08 AM Wow that one is also VERY cool:
http://flickr.com/photos/toe_ball/2447044379/in/set-72157604160451293/ And this one too: http://flickr.com/photos/toe_ball/2447923126/in/set-72157604160451293/ Aaaand here: http://flickr.com/photos/toe_ball/2446935217/in/set-72157604160451293/ Thanks for those video ToeBall! :) Gives me something to drool over ... QQ: Is vehicle damage when crashing down already added? Saw that heli crashing in the ground and getting bumped up by a crater .. hopefully that won't happen in the beta :D I want them to explode and die! Title: Re: Desire for CBT Post by: ToeBall on April 28, 2008, 05:52:11 AM Yeah, that actually did hurt, but also ground collision is set pretty low at the moment since the unfinished models have non-optimal collision meshes.

Hey now, don't blame it on my collision models! I blame your collision multipliers!.... Wait... I'm handling that too :P. Title: Re: Desire for CBT Post by: Clownmite on April 30, 2008, 09:51:23 PM How many mechs does each player control in an average CBT game? Also, how long does a typical game last? I used to play Warhammer 40K and I'm curious what the similarities are.
Title: Re: Desire for CBT Post by: Chaoswolf on April 30, 2008, 11:13:04 PM How many mechs does each player control in an average CBT game? Also, how long does a typical game last? I used to play Warhammer 40K and I'm curious what the similarities are. it is completely dependent on how much time and effort people are willing to do. games can be as small as 1v1 and 4v4 (Mechs), and as large as regiment and Cluster sizes (2-400 mechs + armor, air and GP support). I have played games where i slaughtered in a 4v4 and it was over in 30 mins, and i have played multi-day campaigns, such as the one im just about to play in (recreation of the battle of Tukkayyid, with my leading the 5 Clusters of Clan Wolf units). Things can get excessive if you fight on the small details, but thats half the fun. Nothing beats taking out mechs with cockpits shots. Title: Re: Desire for CBT Post by: Chaoswolf on May 01, 2008, 07:48:27 PM heh.. i have to get credit to one of the people im playing with he put up a valiant... overly LONG... fight for Prezno. Wolves of course dominate the field in the end... i swear im unstoppable in CBT... hehe yet to lose at a tourney either. 6 hours of brutal dice rolling.... lost a Khan in that fight too... bye bye Riddik
Title: Re: Desire for CBT Post by: IgnisTemper on May 02, 2008, 09:51:06 AM Hey Chaos did you ever end up playing the actual MW RPG or did you just use your own sudo RPGesque type setup with CBT?

Whether it's how much you know about battletech or how much you dominate/are going to dominate inCBT/living legends. Anyway, although I don't have too much time for tabletop gaming anymore, I think I'd like to give CBT a shot at some point. I'm not really a fan of the hex system but I guess it makes things much more clear and easier to measure. In Warhammer, you move things with a ruler, so sometimes there's some really close calls that can end up deciding a game. Does CBT use only d6, or are there other size dice involved? One of the nicer things about warhammer was simplicity; it was easy to memorize and play without referring to a book, and it only used d6 so things rarely got too complicated. Title: Re: Desire for CBT Post by: PanzerBoxb on May 02, 2008, 10:54:48 AM CBT uses one or more D6. I played a variant back in the day that allowed for free movement using rulers. It was infinitely more fun but the hex-counters hated it because it took away their advantage.

Whether it's how much you know about battletech or how much you dominate/are going to dominate inCBT/living legends. i resent that.... frankly i have the right to be bold with the amount of stuff i know... as to owning in living legend... hell im going to get splattered. over and over again as you people prove a point :) Title: Re: Desire for CBT Post by: Swissjak on May 29, 2008, 09:50:23 AM I don't mean to unnecessarily bring up a dying topic, but if you're jonesing for CBT go grab MegaMek. They even have campaign servers, the most popular being mekwars.
Title: Re: Desire for CBT Post by: overwatch on May 29, 2008, 06:32:04 PM Megamek... What a wonderful bit of software that is. Hey has anyone thought to use something like Megamek to plan out battle strategies for Living Legends? I know that sounds geeky, but it would eliminate the need for a war room in my den. :)
Title: Re: Desire for CBT Post by: KitLightning on June 23, 2008, 08:20:15 PM No overwatch, it soundīs gecky of you to say you have "no need of a war room"! what should you then do with all that space.
