The demo has been released.  So far I have only played one of the two demo battles as the Dark Eldar (only option) and it has left me feeling a big, hefty "meh" towards it.  Some of the highlighted additions to the game are welcome but the races leave something to be desired in my view.

Damn... Relic should make another Homeworld not another Expansion pack to Dawn of War! Tongue

Homeworld with a dynamic campaign system would cause a major nerdgasm for me.

My only question is - WTF? No Tyranids yet???

I guess Relic is just waiting for the Tyranid Mod team to finish so they can steal it and call it an expansion...

IMO: DOW: Soulstrom Demo = teh gay.

When fans like you say that, I feel encouraged to believe my impression wasn't completely wrong. I have an older DoW game somewhere here, bought as budgetware several months ago and the demo reminded me so much of it, it was obscene. Plus it all felt so unspectacular compared to the intro.
Gotta wait for "Kane's Wrath" I guess.

Having played the DoW XP mod for so long, the default zoom view seems so constrained.

The flying units get a big, fat "meh..." from me.  The commander customization is kind of cool but nothing spectacular for gameplay.  The multi-planet campaign mode is also somewhat cool but I will reserve final judgment until I see it in action.

*Cringes at the history of being swamped by mutalisks in Starcraft before I got air units up*

I liked DoW without Air units. Gave it alot more emphasis on what makes a good map with good terrain to fight around. With Air units in the mix, so much for that. Damn Base Rapers   Sad

Don't get me wrong, I loved DoW DC and the rest of the races, but these additions of Dark Eldar and Sisters of Battle make think one thought  - WEAK!

Even though you can't play as the Sisters of Battle (yet they showed them in the intro - wtf) I'm guessing it'll be a carbon copy of Space Marines style of play. And the Dark Eldar don't get much different feel than just a hybrid of Chaos/Eldar. I would have to agree with the over all "Meh" impression. Nothing new or exciting,

Next expansion please.

The Sisters will not be like the Astartes for the simple reason they generally lack any type of heavier armor or anti-armor assets.  There is already a SoB mod out that was done nicely but it generated the same "meh" response as this expansion.  I'll stick with DoW XP for now.
