Intel and Crytek want your maps! Check out the INTEL CRYSIS MAPPING CONTEST   for details. A short summary for those of you who are in a hurry Wink

  • Winners will be crowned in the categories Singleplayer, Multiplayer - Instant Action and Multiplayer Powerstruggle as well as best Single Player cutscene and best E-Sports level.
  • Prizes are delicious! From simple T-Shirts over powerfull Intel Notebooks to a journey to Crytek's office in Frankfurt, Germany...
  • Rules exist and you might want to check them out before starting!

The best part of this, however, is that MechWarrior: Living Legends will be represented in the Jury for the map contests as one of four Pre-SDK Crysis mods.

HAHAHA way to nay say. Honestly, as far as judging goes i'm personally looking for originality. I'll take a far closer look and spend longer on desert/arid and frozen environments far more than i will on tropical jungle maps Wink

Or just a category for "Non-Tropical" levels. Tongue

The only reason i can gather for having all tropical levels is lack of new models for anything else...most beginner map creators will only use whats available in the resources for the editor.  How do you guys plan on scaling the mechs to anything currently available?  With mechs being anywhere from 6.5 to 17m tall...thats around 21 to 55ft tall.  Are you going to make mechbay models that are 70ft tall to keep in scale with the human models and tanks that exist?

Going to? Nay I say, already HAVE! (and you haven't even thought of the HALF of the things I've seen...on the other side!  Shocked ) Heh, no really though, neat stuff.

Anyways, yes I'd like to see some levels that do REALLY interesting things. Northern pine forest? Yes please. Urban combat zone? Mmmmm. Post Apocolyptic nightmare? Tasty. Futuristic Monolithic structure? *Drool*

Course...scenery is nice and impressive and all...but if you can make the gameplay BETTER on it than other maps...well THEN your working with portals my little munchkins!  Grin

Which version of the game you using? DVD or Downloaded from EA Link?

If your on the DVD, explore the DVD and i believe its in the crysis folder or something like that. If not just browse the DVD in Depth and you'll find it.

If your on the EA Link i believe they offer a second download for the Editor

Better yet, heres a link on how to install and other questions you might have, enjoy

Problems with that is that the devs want to see what you can do with the editor resources at hand.  You can't have maps larger than 100MB, so a detailed+good urban enviornment where you use custom models that don't require to be modded in won't be too possible unless the map file is small.

I'm not sure too if you can even import custom objects/models/ect without them being modded in.  And the rules state that you can't mod anything into the maps (even something simple like picking up binocs isn't possible with this rule).

Of course that's where creativity comes in.  I've found a few obsticles around these issues myself with my desert map Cheesy
