The Phoenix Corporation, otherwise known as Black Phoenix, is one of the most controversial mercenary groups of the Inner Sphere. Not much is known about them and it gets worse with the amount of hype, speculation and rumors about them. On the surface, the Phoenix Corporation is nothing more than an interstellar trading and hauling company, but there's also an MRBC registration under the name Black Phoenix using the exact same logo, and with the same shadowy roots. While the corporate headquarters of the Phoenix Corporation are at an undisclosed location, there is speculation that they operate out of a lost asteroid outpost, a remnant of Kerensky's Operation Exodus. Heroes to some, heathens to others, but widely recognised for their anti-Clan sentiments, they are better known for their "unconventional" tactics (some would use the word "suicidal") and their ability to overcome even the most unlikely of odds mainly attributed to their talent at improvisation than their strategic abilities, and their alleged involvement in a number of history's pivotal points, such as assisting Victor Steiner-Davion in his bid to overthrow his sister Katrina's rule.
Other allegations straight from the rumor mill include:
-Having very close contact with the Clan Wolf in Exile and the Kell Hounds
-Being in possesion of invaluable Lostech production facilities, although of no mass production capacity (allegedly the same facilities that serve as their base of operations)
-Having had their finger in every House Lord's bid for power, and even in the establishment of the new Star League
-Having dealt a significant blow to the Clans' ability to forward troops to the front lines during the first Clan Invasion inadvertently influencing the battle of Tukkayid in favor of the forces of the Inner Sphere
-Their unit trademark is a lance of four heavily modified mechs painted in all black with only the phoenix insignia as a marking, including a Warhammer, Battlemaster, Jenna IIC and a Raven, belonging to the four founding members, who are according to rumors a red-haired female of Clan descent, an one eyed male hailing from house Marik, a former Yakuza from house Kurita and a built blonde male hailing from house Steiner.

However, no clear evidence, other than indications to support any and all rumors, implications and allegations exist. The Exile Wolves as well as the Kell Hounds have only answered our inquiries about Black Phoenix stating that it's just an urban legend, blown out of proportions. While the MRBC registration indicates otherwise, why would a mercenary group of all things want to keep this level of secrecy? What is the real story behind Black Phoenix? While PR manager of Phoenix Corporation, Daniel Epstein denounced any allegations of the company being a front operation to a mercenary outfit, when confronted with the question about the secretive nature of their corporate headquarters, all he said was "No comment".
Could the rumors be true? Could the Phoenix Corporation be just the tip of the iceberg? Our research in search of the truth will continue...

-Excerpt from the ComStar Times Weekly e-paper

(NOTE: Black Phoenix is a group created in our MW roleplaying round, anything to do with it comes from their adventures therein and is not necessarily canon to the storyline of the Battletech universe. We do intend to create a clan for MW:LL themed after it, and are in the process of working out the details, and setting things up, we will however start recruiting by the time the game goes public. Stay tuned for updates Smiley
