84 degrees when playing crysis Yaaaack!

84 degrees is a really good temperature. Do you mean 84 celcious? If so, you need to turn your GPU(graphics card fan) to 100%

Also, do you have the latest nvidia drivers?

Alright, I got my 9600GT, here is my rig (no links but these are how much they are worth), it max's Crysis somewhat nicely, with tweaked configs at 1400x900 resolution:

AMD 5000+ AM2 processor (costs about $100)

2GB of RAM (about $65-$75)

9600GT ($185)

Some $65 AM2 compatble motherboard.

A 160GB HardDrive ($$$?)

A $75 550w PSU

Total:  $565

This implies you already have a DVD drive, case, and Windows XP/Vista avalable to use.

Oh, and stuff like speakers and a monitor from an older PC.

If you wanted to include all of the above (aka brand spakin' new), then the cost would probibly be alittle over $1000.

Wow, your computer looks alot like the one I just bought (but I overclocked it slightly, and am using a $39 videocard that unfortunately, is PCIe Cool. I'm waiting until the end of march before I get my 9600 (that is when my B-day money comes in)  Grin

Good luck with that, I've owned a 9600 GT SSC for over a week now and have yet to have it work. I contacted EVGA about an RMA for my dead card. I payed extra to cross ship with overnight and saturday deliver it on the advice of one of their techs last friday and they have yet to ship me a new one. I hope this isn't typical service from them.

Got mine working. Aparently it turns out the NVidia driver for Vista 64-bit isn't compatible for whatever reason. Running on XP 64-bit with the 64 bit version of the game at my LCD's native 1680x1050 with everything on high and I never seem to drop below 20 fps according to Fraps. I'm seriously impressed.

Thanks everyone for your posts...very educational.

Myself, I am saving up for my machine, purchase in October.

I'd like everyone's thoughts regarding running a 9600GT vs the 8800 w/a a dual core 2g processor.

8800 GTX is faster but 9600GT is better bang for the buck.

9600GT SLI is beastly.

Close to 80% performance increase over a single 9600GT.

The 9 series is shaping up to be somewhat of a bust in the single card area, but Nvidia seems to have streamlined SLI immensely with these cards.

Are you running that setup? Does that permit playing Crysis on 1680x1050 with most to all settings on high?

A single 9600GT does that fine. At least mine does.

I run a HD3870 + HD3850 Crossfire. I run the game at 1680x1050, XP Very High tweak, and get 35FPS or more

A 9600GT SLI can handle 1680x1050, same settings, about the same FPS maybe one or two less.

A single 9600GT can give you performance very similar to a single HD3870, but a little slower.
