Hello!
Thank you for your interest in MechWarrior: Living Legends, a Crysis Total Conversion Mod. You're most likely reading this because you're interested in recruiting new members for a group or community of people who are playing one or even several MechWarrior games and consider switching to MW:LL upon its release. We welcome you and thank you for your support! To show that we value and appreciate this support, we offer this subsection of our forum for your recruitment post.
However, please understand that we need to establish and enforce certain rules and regulations on recruitment posts. Please make sure you read and understood these rules when recruiting on the forums of MechWarrior: Living Legends.
This post has two subsections.
I. POSTING RECRUITMENT THREADS II. REPLYING TO RECRUITMENT THREADS
================================
I. POSTING RECRUITMENT THREADS
1. Chose a good subject. You want people to read your thread. Catch their attention, make them want to read your thread and learn more about your community. A good subject should at least include the name of your player community and the fact that it is recruiting or searching for new members.
2. Tell something about the group you're recruiting for. You wouldn't want to join a group you don't know anything about, would you? Right. Others wouldn't either. Take some time to write down a brief piece of community history. Tell readers about the early and not so early days, about the games the group is playing (maybe even other games than MW?), if the group only exists in virtual reality or in real life as well etc. Again, what has been said about the subject applies here as well: Catch people's interest. Make sure they want to know more about your group, make sure they're interested in it. If you're unsure, just ask yourself: what would I like to know about a group I might join? What would make me curious?
3. Who exactly is your group looking for? The developers of MechWarrior: Living Legends come from all over the world, natively speak maybe a dozen different languages and just as much they differ in age. The same applies for the visitors of these message boards and of course for Battletech and MechWarrior fans in general. Make sure you tell exactly what your group is looking for. Don't let people waste their time trying to get in touch with someone from your group just to find out you're not looking for what they have to offer. Please make sure you give the following details when posting: - Is your group only recruiting players from certain areas? Example: Small New Jersey based community doesn't accept applications from anyone outside the US. Example: Large international group accepting players from almost all over the world. - Are language skills required? If your group accepts international applications, what is the language your group usually communicates in? How solid do these skills need to be? - How old do members have to be? Is there an age limit they must not exceed? - Which games is your group playing? - What kind of players is your group looking for? Competetive players? Fun players? Tank drivers? Pilots? Battlearmor fighters? Only true MechWarriors? - Are there any requirements on the amount of time per week/month players have to be present at meetings, playing or on your community forums?
4. Give contact information Who do applicants have to get in touch with? Where can they meet the person in charge? IRC? MSN? ICQ? xfire? Does your community have a website, a forum, maybe even a Teamspeak or Ventrilo server or own game servers? Don't expect people to ask for this information. We're not forcing you to disclose any intimate details or ask you to give up all of your privacy. We're just asking you to make things as easy for both sides, your community and the applicant as well.
5. Do not bump threads Nothing more to add. Do not reply to your own threads unless there's good reason for it, like major changes, new website adress, game server rentals or changes in what your group is looking for etc.
6. If you would like to have your thread removed or modified, please contact one of the forum moderators or admins.
==============
II. REPLYING TO RECRUITMENT THREADS
1. Do not flame. If you flame another group or even only one of their members, you will be banned from the forums temporarily. If you come back and do this again, you will be banned permanently. Take it out on the battlefield. Don't waste anyone's time with flamewars.
==============
Thank you for reading, understanding and abiding to these rules.
