Great Job guys with what you have done so far, can't wait to see this released. Even my old man is enthusiastic about seeing your mod in action. He's a huge battletech fan and mostly collects the books but likes seeing anything and everything mech. A few things id like to inquire about (sorry if any have already been posted), but perhaps squatting mechs. Aside from the huge advantage of being able to teabag other players with your 20 ton ferro-fibrious/endo steel balls, i kinda like the idea of maybe squatting in the trees or behind a building for cover/ambush. Any plans for passive and active radars, or shutdowns to avoid detection. The ability to eject would be a definite plus(something similar to the pod launching in bf2142). And perhaps the original mech cockpit voice from mechwarrior 2, maybe even ripped from mechwarrior 2. Hearing her voice on startup always made me giddy inside as well as her telling me my arm was destroyed(oh baby don't be like that). This is kinda the short list that popped into my head. Thx in adv guys cheers!

Hey Myder,

welcome to the board!

We don't use anything from previous MechWarrior games, we create all our assets ourself. But don't worry, we've got fantastic voice actors who have done a fantastic job. Smiley

Kind regards,
mike

Hey Myder,

welcome to the board!

ditto

cool, but can we run in the squatting position as in MW3, to minimise and avoid attacks easier? at a slower speed ofcourse!

The ability to eject would be a definite plus

Check.

is there a very short timedelay or is it instant ejection of the pilot? Or have you implemented a controlled critical failure system in the īMech, so that the pilot is ejected just before the īMech collapses? And yeah a female voice (to calm/annoiy my nerves) stating "critical failure *ksh* insufficient heat dissipants *ksh* collapse imminent *ksh* auto eject sequences engaged *ksh* *whammo*"

oOo ... just as long as its a female voice  Roll Eyes

This conjures some very strange mental images...*waddle waddle*

There is a time delay. I know one thing we mentioned that we didn't want ejection to do was save you from a missile 2 inches from your face. So no instant ejection, the exact delay will be determined through testing. It is also manual ejection only.

I can't say anything on that, it's something the bloodsucking vamp, err... I mean, something ToeBall has to answer. Grin

Nope... when you're squatted you're just there, taking a dump or whatever.

though i think some of the designs would look a little weird if they were crouch walking.  From gameplay terms, i'd really like to be able to.  Since having to be at a dead stop, to crouch, in a game where it takes time to accelerate and decelerate was a real pain in mw3 and 4

Itīs o.k. Thou in MW3 you could run in crouched mode with some of the īMechs.

... to accelerate and decelerate was a real pain in mw3 and 4

I actually liked it. That itīs a more logical reaction in contrast to the fact that a īMech, due to itīs design, stresses all the weight on its centerpoint, so a delay on acceleration and the reverse is a logical choice for me, and a welcoming implementation. Thou a 1-button option for making a complete stop should also be available, with the risk of falling towards you previously moved heading.  Cheesy Kiss or maybe seeing an Atlas at full speed (if ever posible) making an abrute 180 degree turn and waddles sidesway instead of straight forward ...

i didn't mean the acceleration and deceleration was a pain, it was just that because of that effect of momentum and having to be at a dead stop to crouch, that crouching was kind of a pain to do since you couldn't use it quickly enough for it to be tactical.  Either you'd have to slow down, or it getting up to move would take too long. Crouching was only ever good for hiding.

If you could crouch walk to an extent, and thus be able to go into a crouch while still moving, and start moving and get up from a crouch at the same time.  You'd end up with some more dynamism to mech movement i think.

Any Benefits with crouching? Like added stability for your mech to keep it from getting knocked over and more accurate fireing of your cannons, reducing recoil maybe?

Having players automatically decelerate before they can crouch would be convenient. I think it would be intresting to see a mech come to a dead stop as fast as it can when you press crouch. It would look really cool if the mech just came to a sliding stop into crouch.  Cool

I'm that guy that loved to launch his Shadow Cat into the air, then get shot up into peices, and whatch the wreckage fall from the sky on to your daishi's head. "Death From Above" my favorite from MW4. I also loved to aim my Ejecting Pod at you. SCAT Forever!
