Prison*

I vote for choosing between the two, those  complaining about someone using it as an exploit; hey guess what you can use it to.

All the crazy people say that.

Having the option would be nice but being able to restrict it on the server would be invaluable.

If the HUD and targetting information is turned off then I have no problem with 3rd person view. Really, the screen size is going to reduce it being used to avoid ambuses from infantry and elementals, and the mechs most vulnerable to those are the slower ones, who probably couldn't get away if they did see it coming. Hahahaha. I was the only one that picked third.

I like seeing more of my surroundings.

Not to revive a dead topic but I had something new to add.  As I have recently starting playing on Mechwarrior League I've learned that most of the players now use third person.  Primarily because well everyone does and if you don't you are at a disadvantage.  I would appreciate it if the developers made sure that such an environment does not develop in MWLL.

Thanks,

As stated several times: If it makes it into the game, third person view is supposed to be existing but not really suitable for combat due to fixed camera perspective and lack of HUD.

Hey Typhoon! Get to work boy! I want to see some development out of ya.   Cheesy

Yes, Mechwarrior Leagues is pretty much 3PV. I think at one time it must have been open as an option. Of course, some people used it. Because SOME use it, all HAVE to...it's an unfair advantage otw.

1st person view would be best for a sim. However, I hate driving the dang Hummers and trucks in Crysis in 1st person...rather drive in 3rd so I can see better. But the same thing is going to apply there too, so I will just have to suffer, lolz.

Having 3pv available to take screen shots is ok, but you can do the same with camera mode.

Definitely need option to look left, right, rear, up, down. You would expect a mech to have cameras to do that, although in FFP when you look to the side you simply see a bit more area and the side of the cockpit.

edit: playing Crysis thru in Delta Force mode. Vehicle control is different - can't shoot and drive, can't look behind, limited range on torso twist. No freakin rear-view mirror, lol. Anyway, it's not so bad driving in 1st person.

I would have to agree that it is easier to drive the hummers and other vehicles in Crysis from 3rd person viewpoint.  I haven't played through Delta Force mode yet.  I'm right at the very end where you have to destroy the huge ship.  Thats on normal difficulty.

For a sim I would go for 1stpv - just make it a server side option? Then the servers will decide what's allowed.
