three: tanks have to put alot more into movement than mechs, seeing as they cant pack a car sized fusion reactor in them

I'm only going to argue this, because I've seen the size of real life tank engines :p. Happen to have seen one, they were working on when it was actually outside the tank. I could realistically fit my car in the compartment it used to be in ^_^ (I drive an escort, but still). Add that, on the fact that (at least in our version  Grin ) the Demolisher for example fits the Abrams between it's treads, I see no reason a car size ANYTHING couldn't fit in that machine!

See, I was going to argue that, too, but forgot... except, my argument was predicated on the fact that BT allows for both ICE and Fusion engines to be placed into tanks, dependant on how one builds their tank.  As for being required to put a lot more into movement, that's not true, either.  It's easier for a machine to roll than it is to walk.  Tanks can have a constant gearing ratio that allows for them to keep moving at the same speed, like a car, while 'Mechs would have an alternating gearing ratio for balance and switching between legs.  'Mechs definitely would have to put more into it, hence the reason all 'Mechs, except in stupid Dark Age, have Fusion plants in them.

Now, that being said I have to conciede this to Chaoswolf.

A legged propulsion system is far move efficient over uneven ground (in theory) as its contacts remain on the ground the entire stride, and do not bounce like a wheeled/treaded system will. Hence, except for sliding the mechs will be applying full force of the engine to forward motion at all times. So, theoretically legs are a better system over rough terrain (which is what we plan to mimic with out mechs).
