Hey guys,

Thought about a new mission type that could be added after release. Here is the outline:

Dropship landed badly and has to br repaired. So a timer starts. At the end of the timer the ship either flies scripted or controlled by a player (whatever is better for balancing) to a designated target that is too tough to take down with regular units (aka no damage dealt by them). Goal for Team A is to destroy that dropship either before it launches or during its flight. Goal for team B is to defend the dropship until the cannons kill the designated target OR it gets close enough to call the mission a success (if fire control cant get directed at the target instead of planes flying around the dropship).

Just an idea for a defense mission. Not only we get a new mission type we also get to see flying dropships with a real purpose Cheesy

Flying DropShips and a defensive mission. I like it!  Might be a bit much to add for release though.

Something simpler might be defending an old Star League Brian Cache for a preset time.  Depending on the outcome, one side would either get a nice boost to their 'Mech budget toward the end of the game, or the whole thing can go nuclear if the bad guys get in before the timer ends.

Doesn't really matter what you have to defend.
Could also be a factory or a Comstar station.

But I have a few questions.
You directly start with 'Mechs?
On both sides?
Can you get new ones?
Where do you get them from?
How do you earn c-bills?

I think it could be a little "static" as everyone know where the defending team is.
A plus is that the action takes place at one single point.

It's a little like those vip mission where you have to protect a vip to the extraction point.
This could be done too. Protect a convoy or something like this. It all would be more fluent I think.

I think in this missions some starting 'mechs might make sense. As for earning C-Bills: Kill stuff. Maybe add some extra objectives (hold an certain point on the map to get a constant stream of C-Bills. If its conquered by the attackers they get a one time bonus). As for new 'Mechs: Add a couple of base dropships that are not flying and you are good to go for extra 'Mechs. Maybe even add different locations for dropships and the one attacking is randomed of one of those. Makes it harder to actually kill the dropship before it starts since you don't know which one it is.

Just an idea ..
