I'm leaving the technical aspects aside. In former MechWarrior games, I grabbed the best gear and equipment available, regardless of their origin.
For this post, I'm only talking about philosophy, way of life, culture.

I voted torn.
Major parts of the Clan philosophy and way of life remind me of darker days in my country's history, something I can not and don't want to see happening ever again.
That's why I'd rather prefer IS.
BUT: I sympathize with certain clans, even to the extent that I see myself rather siding up with them than certain IS houses.

Voted for torn.

I am a big fan of Davion. I did enjoy all of the books where any Davion pro unit appeared. I like the way they won the war against the Clanners and I hate Kathrina for what she did - even though it was obvious what she was going for.

Yet I do enjoy some of the Clanners. The Phelan Kell story is great! The books were all well written and the tech is just amazing.

In the end ... I don't know. Will have to wait for the final release to know what I am going to chose.

I go for the InnerSphere, but just wish all the in-fighting would stop as there are more important targets invading their planets.

The Clans may have better technology, but a good mechwarrior knows that an enemy fighting you in a superior mech is just an enemy delivering a superior mech to you.

Clanners all the way.

Although I will always have a soft spot for the Marian Hegemony, I am a true(born) blue clanner.  Better tech, cooler 'mechs, vat grown mechwarriors, an honor system, cybernetics, elementals... What's not to like?

Sure they are coming into the Inner Sphere all stompy and shooty.  But look what you guys did to it while they were away.  Wink

The fact that in their ideology, some humans are more (or less) worth than others, not because of their achievements, behavior or attitude, but because of birth.
That is, in fact, national socialist ideology.

I fall into the torn camp on this issue.  While there are some houses that I detest (Liao) as a whole the Inner Sphere represents all that there is about humanity.  When the Clans came, the idea of a IS being reunited under a honorable and strong force was quickly overwhelmed by the superiority complex the Clanners have.  The sheer contempt exhibited started to turn me away from their ideals in very short order.

Now, talking tech, I adore the Clans equipment.  Elementals manage to inspire a sense of dread in any MechWarrior.  OmniMechs are the sleek, lethal hunters of the new order, capable of besting almost any opponent with ease.  Yeah, that gives me a nerd chub.  Grin

Thanks for the elaborate answers so far..

That is, in fact, national socialist ideology.
Disturbing, to say the least, that this is gaining support again.. Why do we not learn from our past..

Although I agree on that I still think it's just a game Smiley And there you can chose what you like best (which doesn't necessarily goes with your general opinion about something). But we shouldn't go into that any further! Cheesy That might just end up in fruitless discussion not related to the actual topic.

PS: Davion yeah! Tongue

Voted for IS. In CBT i almost exclusively played 3025.
Even in 3055 I sided with IS. I wanted to believe that these great nations, built on hatred and greed, could unite and set aside their personal differences and defeat a more advanced and ruthless enemy.

Besides, there is so much verity and character in IS mechs that I just can't let them go.  Grin

Torn.  Clan for their bad ass technology and everything like that.

IS for their old heritage, roots, established society and pride.  Minus the whole civil war, shaky upbringing and inner-factions issues of course Smiley
