Interface Design / Concept

My application for the mod team:
Name: Tyler (aka Centron)
Age:16
Position: Interface Concept / Design
Experience: I am a Photoshop addict and know my way around it very well. I do not have any significant interface design experience, and, despite my best efforts, have not been able to find any software to create a prototype interface for Crysis to show here. However, I am a quick learner that is somewhat knowledgeable in C++ and am able to easily digest and learn the ins and outs of a program in a short time.
Ties to Mechwarrior: I have been a Mechwarrior fan since playing the 31st Century Combat game on the Playstation 1 at the age of 5 (Timber Wolf for life!) and I have always followed the series up until the end of the (good) Mechwarrior games in 2002 with M4: Mercenaries.
Other Commitments: As I am a high-school student going into the summer: None!
Samples: As I previously stated, I do not have any actual interfaces to show as there was no development software readily available. If someone can give me a good link to a software with which I can make a Crysis-compatible interface, I can hopefully crank out a prototype menu within a few days. I am also working on some HUD concepts for Infantry, Mechs/Battlesuits, and Aero-Space craft. These should also be completed soon.
I also have minor skills in Crysis mapping and sound design, so I can also provide some assistance to the other staff members if needed.

I'd suggest downloading the Crysis ModSDK and a 30-day trial of Adobe Flash and see what you can do with the interface.

Adobe just hates me I guess.

And also, how exactly did you go about modding the interface in the Aero-Space flight teaser? I can't find any documentation about menu creation in the ModSDK Manual.

Centron, I think I have a Trial of Adobe Flash kicking around that I downloaded and never installed. PM me an e-mail if you want it. And if that doesn't work, I've got a Trial of Refusal with Adobes name on it.

Actually, before you even do anything with Flash, it would help if you started with a static 2D design you come up with.
Get in a VTOL in Crysis, take a picture, then overlay your own designs.
You could even go to town on the main menu.
Since you're pretty handy with Photoshop, get yourself a copy of Illustrator since that is normally what makes better vector shapes (really comes in handy when mixing and matching in photoshop).
All the HUD elements from the menu to the ingame Flash sequences are done in Scaleform which heavily utilizes Flash and ActionScript.

Currently, they do not have a freely available Evaluation SDK (you have to sign up to get one).
Good Luck!

Thanks for the advice Landros, but you wouldn't happen to have a link to a trial for Illustrator or Scaleform would you?
Oh, and I think I am going to try tackling out a main menu before I get into the tougher things like making a full HUD (I have a nice menu concept I drew today after my last final exam for this year
)

Thats actually a debug interface that I put in for the aerospace. Thats part of the hard code, not a true GUI interface. In the final release, that will be removed and replaced by a proper HUD display.

Illustrator is an Adobe product as well so if their trials are not currently available then you won't be able to get one. Illustrator IS vector graphics whereas Photoshop is raster graphics. There are many differences but the main one is that a vector image can be resized without any loss.
As for links to trials... one word for you... Google! Get really good with it if you want to go far in life.

Ok, I have a very barebones menu for Crysis drawn up in flash, (a friend happens to have both Flash and Illustrator and was kind enough to lend me his CD's) but I need to know what steps I have to take to put it in Crysis.

Again, the word is Google. Go there and type in "adding flash menu to crysis" and look at the first link. A YouTube video showing how to do it.
Seriously... you got to do some research and figure it out. If you give the development leads the impression that they are going to have to spoon feed you everything then they will probably just do it themselves and not hire you. I am not trying to be mean... just giving some advice since you're just getting started.

Actually, we did start off training a fair number of team members (most of whom have left since) but as the release deadline approaches we just can't spare as much time teaching basic skills in the Crysis engine. We have to do the research and figure out for ourselves too. Google, CryMod, team mades, the pak files in your game folder. When searching for answers and asking for help fails, turn to reverse engineering. When that fails, be creative. We're all here to have fun and learn, so if we can help, great, if not, it could simply mean we haven't tried it yet. As far as the main menu goes, the only things I've done were to replace the background animation and add placeholder vids to the startup sequence.

Would you happen to have a direct link to that video Seiko? I Googled "adding flash menu to crysis" and I only got this vid:

Guess I should have watched the movie instead of just read the link.
Do a search on CryMod as well:
