All Houses seem to start their mechwarriors at around Sergeant level except the Capellans who start at Lieutenant. (so for the most part most mechwarriors are NCOs and not WOs or Officers)

As for training it seems most mechwarriors take about 3-4 years, though 6 is not unheard of.

Clan Ranks are farly simple

First to note is the Clan OOB
Squad -5 infantry or 1 BA (battle armor)
Point -25 infantry or 5 BA or 1 mech or 2 Tanks or Aerospace fighters or 5 protomechs
Star -5 points
-Nova -A subset of the Star which inclueds 5 points of mechs and 5 points of infantry (typicly Elemental)
Binary/Trinary -2 or 3 Stars
-Nova Trinary -2 or 3 Novas
Cluster -2 to 6 Trinarys or Binarys (or Nova Trinarys)
Galaxy -2 to 6 Clusters

Warrior -reguler private of sorts
"Squad commander" -Commands a squad of 5 reguler infantry (non Battle Armor, a Corporal equivalent)
Point Commander -Commands a Point (Sergeant equivalent)
Star Commander -Commands a Star (Lieutenant equivalent)
Nova Commander -Commands a Nova (not used in all clans, a Senior Lt. equivalent)
Star Captain -Commands a Trinary (Captain equivalent)
Nova Captain -Commands a Nova Trinary (again not used in all clans, a senior captain or major equivalent)
Star Colonel -Commands a Cluster (Major or Lt Colonel equivalent)
Galaxy Commander -Commands a Galaxy (Colonel or Brig General equivalent)
Sa Khan -2nd in command of the clan
Khan -leader of the clan
Il Khan -leader of all the clans (not allways used)
