Would the Arena permit different kinds of scenarios, such as a trial of position? For example, creating a circle of equals where a promising cadet would attempt to defeat three opponents in sequence. Each consecutive opponent defeated earns another rank. This would excellent for attaining rank in clans and seems to be a generally fun idea. If such has already been proposed, can someone link me to the post? Thanks!

I'm not going to use the search function again because that makes other people laugh at me Wink

I've been explaining a few times already that we'll be allowing unbalanced numbers of players per team, so basically, yeah, you could set up a Trial of Position with Solaris Arena mode. It's not going to be implemented by us, meaning *you* respectively the group will have to figure out the order in which opponents enter the fight against the contender or what they'll be actually fighting for, but we'll provide the environment for that.

Neg, you can click the link like the one I specified in my post for more detailed info, it outlines the procedures for all the trials, including the trial of annihilation, trial of position, trial of abjuration, trial of possession, trial of refusal, trial of grievance, and trial of blood right. A trial of possession is when two clans claim a planet (or group of planets), cache of technology, or other object of value and engage in a trial of possession for control over said object. A trial of position is one where a mechwarrior can climb in rank within his sibko. If the mechwarrior does not achieve a kill in this trial, he is cast out of his caste into a non-warrior one, and he cannot attempt the trial of position again. Aidan Pryde, who failed his ToP, however, used a loophole to have another trial, but his case is the exception.

Each kill in a trial of position earns the attacking Mechwarrior another rank, but each successive kill is more difficult, because the damage carries over from the previous engagement. In Mechwarrior 4, I myself engaged in a trial of position. I was in a cauldron born and defeated a shadowcat, then the same mech (CB) and then a mad cat, all in succession and keeping my damage from the previous engagement. It was very difficult but very rewarding. I owe much of my success to my LBX 20s, they literally knocked down my opponent.

Mizzri, I <3 you. That is not a joke Smiley LOL.

P.S. I don't get how "Isn't a trial of possession" is supposed to be funny. What followed is hilarious, but what started it I don't get. Can you explain? It seemed more like a genuine question Cheesy

Could be his blatant use of a contraction when referring to a Clan ritual.  Grin

Clan rituals on Solaris doesn't make much sense.

The mode is called "Solaris Arena", because people will know they have to expect some kind of duelling.
We're not saying these battles necessarily take place on Solaris.

You might have noticed that the other mode is called "Trial of Annihilation" and will, for now at least, see Clans fight the Inner Sphere for property, which isn't exactly what the name originally stands for in the universe, right?

Crap, I think we're making the universe explode.

I'm really excited about how it all will be working. The betting etc.
Just meant that Solaris is a IS thing and has nearly nothing to do with the clans
and I didn't mention till now that there will be any ranks ingame so a ToP would have no real effect.

Actually, I believe you have mistaken Trial of Annihilation for the trial of Possession, which would be for property, but, given the large nature of the inner sphere, a trial of refusal may occur. The trial of annihilation is when one clan is designated to be totally exterminated by other clans who get involved. This happened when Clan Wolverine nuked the genetic material of another clan and the clans voted a trial of annihilation against them. <3
