Name: MarK Hymer
Age:52
Timezone: GMT -5
Position: Modeler, Texture, Level design

Past Projects: Quake, Freespace, Starshatter
These are some of the programs I have modded in the past. The latest work I have done is on Starshatter. I did (still working on) a mod, TOS Galactica, using some of the models from Freespace and creating my own.  They are lower poly models (5-10K) to support a larger fleet battle within SS. The pictures below are from my work.

Ties to Mechwarrior: I have been playing Battletech since 1984 as a board game.  The tactics and stratagem behind the configurations of a mech was a blast to play with.  I have owned every mech game released for the PC (and several for the consoles as well) and still have them all along with a pretty big collection of miniatures from the board game.

Other commitments:  As I mentioned above I am still working on the TOS Galactica Starshatter mod and have recently joined up with TLL to get back into a little MW4 play just to get ready for this mod.  I can create textures, uvmaps, model (I use blender can't afford 3Dstudio, but Blender does export nicely) and level design as needed.

SAMPLES:
These are the ships I created, textured, built .Defs for and inserted into the SS world.

Still not real happy with the Viper need to do better texture alignment.

While not a professional by any means I have a desire to support this project in anyway I can.

I like this application.  Concise and still manages to show a lot of work.  If you have any unwraps or wireframes to show off that would make a complete package.  I'll make sure one of the leads checks this thread soon. Smiley

Hey Starbucc,

Those are some nice lowpoly models. These all placed in Freespace? I was also wondering if you were the one that implemented them into game engine?

I'm really interested in chatting with you. If you wouldn't mind jumping on MSN and add me to you contact list - psycho_crackman@hotmail.com - I'll give you our Teamspeak IP and we can chat it up Smiley.

My earlier attempts at a BSG mod were with Freespace II.  The examples are all from Starshatter: The Gathering Storm.

I implemented about 33 different ships into the SS game engine, some my own model and textures and some used with the kind permission of the orignator. I also created a couple of standalone missions for it.

Never been one for MSN but for you guys I will set it up and add you.  Teamspeak already setup and ready to go when I get an IP, can't live without it now days.

OK stated with 3ds MAX. Got the old girl Galactica pulled in and textured without any real problem.  I will play around with it more and let you know if I think I can be of help in the future.

Customize>Preferences>Click viewport tab.

In here choose configure driver and set background texture size and download texture size to the highest number.  Also change texel lookup to anisotropic and mipmap lookup to linear.  Save and restart max.

Thanks, much cleaner, but it is a 1024 map.  I'll keep playing.  Sir, your tag is well earned.

KL,

Thx Dude.

I cheated a little on most of the BSG tex.  I was lucky to find a site that a had some pretty squared up pictures of an 8' model of the old school Galactica.  After I worked the pics a bit they turned out OK.  The Cylon base ship were pics from a model I have and a good photo session there got me some good tex.  I have a better version of it but no pics yet, still working of the spec and bump maps.

All the (socalled great) classic painters cheated and copied their favorite artist or their mentors works, over and over. Only in post 20st[/st] century has it become a no-go for artist to-do!
