So, to slightly threadjack this, how would you like to see FFA implemented?  Would the session creator manage tonnage and class limits?

Would you be amenable to having tonnage limits?

Would you be amenable to having tonnage limits?

I would be fine with that if they were optional and could be configured manually.  Such as setting it to 35 ton limit or a 50 ton limit.  Those are obviously just a few examples.  If a mech lab is included eventually which I hope it will.  Could the game also be setup to restrict certain weapons and possibly mechs?

Well, a very interesting question.

FFA = B (battle)
TB = Team Battle
In Mercs presently, there is a ton of different game types as well:

D, TD, CTF, McRugby, KOTH, TKOTH, AG, TAG, Steal the Bacon, Goliaths...perhaps a few more.

All of these are implemented by scripts. The map also has some features that are generated specific to the type of game played on them as well, and these features must be built in when the map is made - of course.

One of the reasons that I was asking in another thread (http://www.mechlivinglegends.net/forum/index.php/topic,2251.0.html) about map generation was this specific topic.

The short answer is: I want FFA and TB...BUT:

The question is: What's it gonna take to get that in the game?

My preference is to have you guys have a product released on time. I want *something*. I think everyone knows that it will not be "complete".

If it means getting MWLL sooner - I would vote just for TB at first. And that reminds me of another question I had...see the thread I started on bots in the tech section.

I used to organize a clan FFA tournament every month composed of light mechs on a cold map in both Mw3 and Mw4. It was a nice break from the league matches and we all had a blast.  I vote yes to FFA.

FFA is always a good idea, but keep the focus on teamplay. While FFA was fun and fundamentally sound in vanilla crysis, I'm not sure mechwarrior will really lend itself to a great FFA experience. It could be very rough, and at times highly irritating to be insta-owned by random Mk II's and Fafnirs while engaged in an intense duel with another player in a light or medium 'mech  - it could potentially ruin the fun.

Teamplay is where I think this mod will shine anyways - the team that coordinates best together will always prevail, and in the process some very intense battles could be fought. Free for all is just a lot of action (which is great) but doesn't deliver the same experience as a team game does.

Definately try to squeeze FFA in there. I have many fond memories of running rampant on arena maps picking off overheated Alpha-Striker builds. It'll be a good way to weed the men from the kids Tongue

Can people please repost this to other Mech sites and leagues? Currently it's been posted on Mektek, Netbattletech and Shacknews..

It however has not been posted to any other league sites or MechStorm (I don't have an account) and could use more votes!

I wouldn't mind seeing FFA, but not something that I would want or expect in the first release.  I very rarely play FFA but when I do it's a fun devation from the normal gameplay.  And, FFA with Mechwarrior was always fun due to the type of hardware you were driving Grin

I think FFA is great and all just for messin' around and some quick fun but team play should FAR outweigh it in importance.  So my answer is, FFA if you can do it on time but if not, patch FFA in later and go straight for the teamplay first.  Keep on it and don't give up, we're all rootin' for you guys!

I go along with the nice but not required on initial release.  In the future a FFA would be a nice change of pace, but I am here for the teamwork.
