My application as an software developer particularly directXInput joystick support for this mod

My Name: Bernd ( aka Aruin)

Age: 29

Position: Directx Programmer

Experience: I am a engineer for medical healthcare technology, experienced in writing software for physical simulations and navigations in a medical envirement. I am experienced in writing Dlls in Xp/Vista in C++, VB.net and many older programming languages. I bring with me a good knowledge of physics, MSR, and a great backgroundknowledge about Mechwarrior and Classic Battletech. I manage a small BT Tabletop Fangroup in Germany and mastering this group for 15 years know. Full story background and other background for BT can be achieved by me.

Past Projects:

1. No game mod expierence but Directx programming in medical background (navigations and calculating with graphic cards).

2. Dll programming for data exchange between different programms and hardware

3. Some projects in programming small software for microcontroller and medical navigation instruments

Other commitments: Family and my doctor degree

Samples: Will discuss privately

I spoke with MWLL|Landros and AoP about helping the project and we dicussed the implementing of a joystick control for aerospace fighter.

All of the programmers would greatly appreciate an experienced programmer to deal with setting new forms of input. I'm not sure exactly what you'll be able to accomplish, as the input systems is encapsulated in a module we cannot directly modify (we have access to the interface files, but not the actual source code of the cryinput.dll as it is not part of the Mod SDK).

We don't necessarily want the joystick working with JUST the aerospace, but actually would rather it was readable by the control customization menu, and any joystick input could be assigned to any generic action (I can explain this a bit more with you if we go over the code together).

I'll point Toeball this way, as he'll have more to say and be able to set you up for an interview and also send you our programmer test task (I'm sure you'll do fine if your that experienced).

Maybe I can go other ways of implementing a joystick to the game, by emulating an XInput (XBox360) or modifying the Cryinput.dll. Did some dll manipulating in my job, but can't promise it would work. But there must be a way of implementing a joystick at the end, by running a wrapper or something else. The general joystick function with directX seems no problem. At the moment I am looking for a solution to get direct access to the cryinput.dll

Task sent. Sorry for the delay. Also, while DLL manipulation is possible, it is a violation of our license, something we'd rather avoid. Keeper or I can show you the exposed part of the input system and give you some ideas on how to extend it with the exposed code. We're pretty good at coding what we need and don't have at this point. Also add me to your MSN with the address I IM'ed you.

Oh, just in case you already sent the task in Aruin, I just wanted to give you a heads up that Toeball is dealing with after affects of the hurricane coming through his area. He's alright, but on generator power and no internet ATM.

Ah ok send him the answer of the task alrady... At the moment i would change some things on the task, but i hope the code will do what you wanted...
I looked at the sample code of Crytek for mods and maybe theres a simple way to implant joystick, because crytek build in some basic files for joystick support, the c code will be no problem, but the flash interface where the configuration is made.. is not my favorite... this could be a greater problem for me Sad

We'd need to setup a flash menu anyways, so you'd have help on that anyways, though it's a bit down the list ATM unfortunately :p . I'm starting to recruit people from my college to help us program because of all the little tasks we are trying to do simultaneously  Cheesy. So many little cogs to the machine  Grin. I don't see it as  a problem though, since once your done we'd probably ready to get heavy into the UI coding and flash development (we've had a bit of a start on it, but due to personal issues of a couple of the guys who started on it, we're doing it a bit later than expected.

I'll send you a message with the teamspeak details, and maybe we can get you started. I'm sure your code is fine, and if you want you can send it to me while Toeball is incompacitated and I can look it over. He usually asks me for a second opinion on it anyways, so I'm sure he won't mind having one less thing to do :p .
