Basic description
Faced with the superior range and firepower of the Clan invaders, the Steiner military wanted a light, fast ’Mech with superior long-range firepower to engage light and medium Mechs at a distance and eliminate them quickly. Designed around a single Gauss Rifle, the Hollander provides devastating firepower and range, but also poses some inherent design limitations.
The Gauss Rifle is so heavy that the designers had to reduce the original power plant and space available for secondary weapons. Initial specifications also called for six tons of ferro fibrous armor, giving the ’Mech very good coverage for its weight. After mounting the Gauss Rifle, the designers found that the ’Mech could barely move and the weapon had difficulty tracking. The Engineers were forced to rethink the design and build the Hollander around more of a ‘Mech Sniper’ role.
10 tons heavier than its lighter chassis, the Hollander II design seeks to counter the Original deficiencies with additional weapon capacity, now mounting 2 Medium Lasers.
Outline
Players who find Sniping roles appealing to them will also find the Hollander will suit their style against Mechs. Equipped with a Gauss Rifle and Enhanced Optics and Stabilization the Player will find it very easy to utilize the Hollander II’s precision to take out enemy Mechs at long range. Although, due to the weight of the Gauss Rifle, the Hollander has limited speed, limited armor and only 2 Medium Lasers as secondary weaponry.
