Materials Part 2: Material IDs

Now that we have our Multi/Sub-Object Material setup, we can apply it to the model. To do this simply select your model, select your material, and hit the Apply Material to Selection button.
You may notice that some parts of your model will take the material in slot 1 and some parts will take the material in slot 2 of your Multi/Sub. We can use Material ID's to control this effect. Make sure your model is an Editable Poly, then go into Polygon mode and select the entire mesh. Under the Polygon Properties tab use the Set ID slider to change every polygon to Material ID 1.
Now that we have done this, every polygon on the mesh will inherit the Material in slot 1 of our MyBottle material. Our bottle is now entirely glass, but we still need to separate the part which will become the label. Select the individual polygons where the label will be and change them to ID 2 using this method.
We have finished applying our Material to the model and have correctly setup our material ID's. If you are using an object that needs multiple materials you should practice this method. This way you have full control over your materials and a work flow which is easy to follow if you are working with a team. In Part 3 we will be constructing our label material and masking it within the Multi/Sub.
