Basic description
The Atlas was designed as a last-ditch effort to ensure the superiority of the Star League’s Regular Army over the growing armies of the House Factions. General Kerensky himself set down the specifications for the Atlas, calling for "a ’Mech as powerful as possible, as impenetrable as possible, and as ugly and foreboding as conceivable, so that fear itself will be our ally."
Ugly and foreboding are two apt descriptions for this 13 meter tall hulk of the battlefield. However, height and weight provide plentiful amount of space available for weaponry. The Atlas is also known as the "Walking Tower" for its ability to take incredible amounts of punishment from enemy fire. With extra reinforced Endo-Steel, the Atlas can take the full brunt of a Gauss Rifle and will hardly be phased by the effect.
Other Mechs may have more firepower, but none have the same commanding presence and aura as an Atlas does on the field of battle.
Outline
A walking wall, pure and simple. This moving tower is the both the tallest and strongest of all the Mechs in the Inner Sphere. Though weighed down by at least 19 tons of pure armor, the ’Mech still carries enough payloads to deliver quite the punch. Players will find the Atlas to be really slow, but its armor is well worth it when strolling straight into the enemy’s line of fire.
