Seriously, Show me ONE movie that was better than its Book/Comic. It doesn't happen.

There are tons of cases where the movie was better than the book. Three pop into my head right away: Fight Club, Band of Brothers, Forrest Gump. Granted, its all a matter of opinion. There are tons of book snobs out there that always prefer the paper version, no matter how bad the original source material was.

I have not read a lot of comics, but since their story lines are so outlandish and stretched out over years, its very hard if not impossible to make a good movie adaptation and still satisfy the original comic book fans.

MY first experience at book made movie sucking was when I was 9 and it was that cold bitter hatred you feel after you just learned that you were duped. We had read "Old Yeller" in school and then watched the movie, I was crushed.

Im sorry Iron brain but I thought all of those video game movies you listed to be as good as the Dark Knight, were terrible by themselves, and I thought the new batman movies were really good.

Think of the earlier batman movies, (not the 60s movie\shows) they were pretty horrible, I remember an old Captain America movie that sucked. It took em a LONG time to make any sort of good movie out of comic books, and personally I think alot of the comic books that have already been made into movies arent very interesting subject matter to begin with, if they made a Battletech (sorry MECHWARRIOR (not dark age tho), or Half Life movie that somehow DID JUSTICE to the games\universe then theyd be AWESOME movies.

Anyone see district nine? Its not based on the game, but its flow and feel felt alot like a really good video game to me, reminded me a bit of Half Life. It had lots of run and gun action, broken up by solid character building and cool set peices, it even featured a sweet vehicle level!!  ;D

To put it quite frankly, people are incredibly more accepting of lousy novels than lousy movies, probably because any dipshit can write a book and sell it. Comparing books to movies is an almost abstract comparison, almost as much as video games to movies.

I thought the Lord of the Rings movies were very good adaptations of the books into movie format, yet people still piss and whined about it.

Interesting GI post about how microsoft destroyed FASA basically.  Personally I see him as responsible for killing his own franchise, not only did he accept offers to be bought out, when any one knew in the industry at the time if you were bought by M$/EA you were in for a really rough time at the studio.  But I didn't realise he was part of wizkidz which really dropped my opinion of him.  Have a read and see what you think.
I woke early one morning, the earth lay cool and still.  When suddenly a tiny bird perched on my window sill.  He sang a song so lovely, so carefree and so gay.  That slowly all my troubles began to slip away.  He sang of far off places, of laughter and of fun.  It seemed his very trilling brought up the morning sun.  I stirred beneath the covers, crept slow out of bed.  Then gently shut the window and crushed his fucking head

.... I'm not a morning person.

Would it be too far fetched to say not only do they know about this mod, but it's part of the reason why they're trying to revive a dead IP? They know that the fanbase is still around (look at the forums) and that they can use whatever attention this mod has already generated to make their game more sucessful.
