Using weapon groups
Weapon groups are numbered groups (1-6) of weapons
Any combination of weapons can be in a group. A weapon may be in multiple groups
Group fire must be activated on the group to fire groups (\| key to toggle group fire and chain fire)
highlight a weapon by pressing enter on the weapon (using up and down arrow to cycle weapons)
Then select the group number you want them to be in by cycling group numbers with left and right arrow keys.
This way you can add any weapon to any weapon group
One a weapon is added to a group then the number will highlight
NOTE: To fire Weapon group one you must either hit your 1 key, or have the 1 group selected and use left mouse. This is because there is no weapon group 1 fire key and left mouse fires the currently selected group
EXE- Lets say I have 4 weapons (LRM,LBL,MLB, and another MBL)
You want them all in the same group (so they fire at once, in Mechwarrior terms this is called a "Alpha Strike"
I want all of these to be in fire group 2.
Select the first weapon in the list by using the up and down arrow
then select the "2" by using the left and right arrow keys
press enter
this will highlight the number 2. in the same horizontal line as the weapon name
Repeate for each weapon
So now each weapon should have a highlighted # 2
Now, pressing the fire group # 2 key (Right mouse) will fire each weapon
Try pressing \| key now and cycle to chain fire, with the weapon group selected
This will fire one weapon each time the group is fired, but will automaticly cycle to the next group
This is great for controlling heat on laser heavy 'mechs, or if you want to be more efficient accuracy wise (so you don't miss with everything and can walk onto your target.)
Lets say I want to split the group into 2 groups
Leave the first 2 weapons in group 2
Then select weapon 3 and 4 and place into group 3
now the first 2 weapons will fire with right button
and the last 2 by pressing middle mouse button (or 3 key) (group 3 fire)
Note - \| cycles fire mode. To use group fire make sure group fire mode is activated
