The pedals work great. :)

The only odd thing I have just noticed is the throttle either goes 100% full forward or 100% full back, it isn't incrementally letting me adjust.... not sure why yet.

Try pressing "K" in game.  This changes it from instant throttle to ramping throttle

By default vehciles have instant throttle.
This does not work

Pressing K in game for me does nothing at all.

i have the same problem K does nothing so to control speed its juggling the W,S & X buttons which is very hard work lol

Theres an assumption here that people like myself have a half a brain. I have NO brain.

We need a dirt simple, step-by-step tutorial on how to get a joystick working in the game. Don't assume people know what "action-maps" are and where they go or what to do with them. Seriously.

30 years of pharmaceutical abuse takes its toll.....trust me on this. :-[

I managed to get my throttle working.  I'm using a Saitek Cyborg Evo FYI.

Firstly I identified which axis was being used for my throttle using the joystick.exe file in the mwll file.

Then in the actionmaps.xml file in my profile I set the <action name="SetThrottleval"> to the correct axis, <key name="invjoyaxis_z"/>

Finally in the jpystick.cfg file (C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Mods\mwll\Game\Config) I had to adjust the joystick 'z_axis_att = 1' and z_axis_off = 0 to get the range correct for my particular joystick.

In game you need to allow the throttle to use the throttle level rather than key settings by pressing the numpad '/' key.

Hope this points you in the right direction.

I think use of the joystick.cfg file in conjunction with the actionmaps.xml file is key to a good setup...

Nevermind, I got my HOTAS Cougar working, programmed, stick, throttle and pedals finally.  There's a config file in the mod directory, Aruins_example_actionmaps and you put that into the documents directory for your profile and rename it to actionmaps
rename it to actionmaps?  how do you do that? I appreciate the info, but I hope for more step by step .

Right click on the file, and click rename, type in "actionmaps"

In game you need to allow the throttle to use the throttle level rather than key settings by pressing the numpad '/' key.

I think that is the answer to a lot of people's joystick issues.  My throttle was mapped to the right axis, but it wasn't enabled in-game... it did need inverted though.

What I am trying to change is the axis used for torso twist.  In the config that came with the mod, torso twist is the x-axis rather than the RZ (twist).  I managed to get turning to work on the x axis like I wanted, but I'm not sure which line I need to change to get torso twist working.  I may have it set correctly, and just need to adjust the dead-zone.  Does anyone know which line is vehicle torso twist, or how to add the dead-zone parameter to the line?  I'm pretty sure its one of the rotateyaw lines, but there appear to be several in this config file.

I find the joystick not as accurate as the mouse. It is too slow at turning so i increase the multiplyer but then when i'm zooming in on an object it is way to jumpy, not a smooth movement like the mouse. Are my setting wrong ?

I find that to be true in almost every game that offers both control options.  I like the fact that I don't have to disable mouse control to use a stick.  I play a lot of X3, and it's similar in controls.  I feel like I can pilot better with the stick than the mouse, but I switch to the mouse for targeting.

The joystick support takes a lot of effort right now to set up. And there are issues with throttle that can't be fixed on the user's end. Perhaps eventually it'll all get sorted. :)
