Ps. There are no "game modes" - there is only one game mode - Deathmatch ;D

Solaris Arena :D And it's Team Deathmatch ! See we need a wiki entry for it!

I guess I'll turn this into a general update thread on the progress of the Wiki.

Medium Mechs are done now, still need pictures though, as do the Owens and Ravens.
Still need pics for weapons and equipment; weapons are nearly finished and have been reorganized.
Need to start Vehicles page, as well as equipment page.
Main page updated to add links to some of the more complete pages.

To all the people that have been contributing, thank you very much.

Note: please be careful to consult precedents and utilize templates when creating or editing pages, as it saves time further down the road.  Also, be sure to keep your pages relatively unbiased.

I'm going to move on to Heavy Mechs next, and continue to work on filling in weapons.

Meanwhile also all the weapons have been reorganized as well as infoboxed to meet the article naming policy, slowly the fundamentals of "to-be-created" gameplay tactics category are being made. We've got 2 new active editors (*bows to Skunker and Galaxy613*) which is a great news.
Also the article on Saitek x52 Joystick Configuration becomes bigger and bigger each day thanks to amazing work of DeathYacht! ;D
And finally we've got the first revert. :o
[edit] Oh, and don't forget about one of most important pages - DeathYacht started the Troubleshooting - probably most needed support page we'll have on wiki. Thanks man! Amazing work with collecting all these in one place! Everyone, feel free to add solutions if you know any! :)

sorry for the absence, was taking a break to playtest 2.0 as much as possible to get a feel for new playstyles, assets, maps, etc.

Going to get to work updating as many of the Mech pages as possible, and then get to work making the new Mech pages

No worries, keep the tests going Snowball. For mechs especially we'll need battlefield informations to see how they're going comparing to others - just for better descriptions :)

I already updated all of the already-existing mechs pages to refer new stats, but check out the infobox before making new articles, cause it's altered a bit to fit the needs of new version. :)

BTW: The mechs which changed load out with new patch are:
  • Owens
  • Puma
  • Warhammer
But also Hawkmoth and ShivaC.

Sorry to necro, but I didn't want to start a new thread.

Owing to some recent examples and tests, it's clear that weapons data needs to be much more accurate.  I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to how to get more accurate info and statistics, or if anyone is willing to exhaustively test weapons to determine this information.

Also, having perused the boards, it appears as though a potential problem exists in that the game's learning curve may be much to high for newer players, leading to a lack of interest and/or outright dislike of the mod.  Now I know the learning curve is part of the charm of a simulation game, and I don't propose any change to the game itself.  Personally, I love seeing new faces in-game as well as on the boards, and it's a bit of a letdown when people play one or two games and don't fully understand the depth, and subsequently, they choose to abandon it.

I was thinking perhaps we could start writing "guides" of sort, in a similar line to the Pro Tips thread, but perhaps more focused and in-depth.  There's now tons of "experienced" players out there who understand the nuances of the game, and I for one would love to hear what they have to say.  Consolidated guides could be about anything, from basic maneuvering to the in-depth usage of a single weapon.  They wouldn't have to be long, maybe just a paragraph or two, and I think that newer players would really benefit from having a more detailed general knowledge of the game before they dive in and get beaten over the head by other players.

Ideas?

I do agree on the protips needing to be a bit more formal and more guide, letting users focus on certain subject one at a time.  What might really help new players would be some sort of training maps they could load up on their own servers.

Some being land or air based with various courses that would teach them basic maneuvering and targeting.

MWLL server status!

Please, keep the discussion going on Talk:Weapons - I gave there an idea we could use (descriptions instead of values). Perhaps move the post above to the talkpage?

Don't split it on two parts - here and on wiki :) Thx!

Snowball - I'm working on the guide between making the theme for wiki... so no worries, I'll post the effects soon... perhaps at the weekend :) It won't be completed till weekend for sure (as I focus on theme very much) but will show you the basic idea of it. :) (you can see small sample in the C3 article)

But in any case: Feel free to post the ideas here. :)
we'll be able to incorporate them to the wiki later on :)

Simple solution for those weapon stats: Instead of using die hard numbers I would suggest to use simple graphs indicating how much damage each weapon deals in comparision to others. Make it something simple so newcomers see quickly that a Large Laser is dealing more damage than a small or medium one. Maybe 10 bubbles and filling them depending on the damage? Same can be done for heat, size and what not. Simplifies the viewability for new people.

My 2 cents.

Yep, it's doable. You would add number to the template while parser would take care of the images.
Although we need to differ the damage between the categories - as it's quite obvious that large laser does more damage than the small one ;) - something that would work between the UAC20 and LL.

Didn't even see the weapons talk page, will take a look at it soon.

And I like Seraph's idea, as it gives people a ballpark idea of how well weapons perform in-game.

As for the guides, I'll wait and see what Sky_Walker's looks like.  I do like what you did to the C3 page.  I think I'll throw together a couple of rough "guides" as examples to see if people will bite.

Just FYI, we referred one of our members to the wiki for a description of how C3 works...this page:  http://wiki.mechlivinglegends.net/index.php?title=C3

In the article, I was trying to figure out what "RECKON" was, until I figured out someone must have meant "RECON".  "Recon" is of course short for reconnaissance.  "Reckon" is an American colloquialism interchangeably used with "count", "consider", or "suppose" and is typically associated with ignorance.  Yep, I reckon that there mech ain't got no armor on its hind-quarters.

Good tool guys, thanks for all the work.  ;)
