Ideal mission time

I've been finding alot of servers with huge mission times up to over an hour and a half. these games get very boring and repeatative so i was just wondering if i was not alone. i have attached a poll to find what most people prefer

I voted 60 min, but it really depends on the c-bill income model. With each patch its been a little different. Ideally the last 20 minutes of the game should have a good deal of heavy/assault mechs. 45 minutes of assaults pounding on each other is a bit too long. Right now I feel it skips over lights and mediums and gets into heavies a little too quickly, so 45 minutes works well for 0.2.0, but 75 minutes was preferable for 0.1.1.

For me it's 45 minutes.
In 60 min game it nearly never happens to play with same people from beginning to the end - and those who stand for over 35 minutes turn the game into Assault-class spam. 45 is just on the edge of balance between 'too short to get Assault by inexperienced player' and 'too long to get boring'. :)

Oh, and if some server owners read this - please, please, please don't create hosts where maps repeat. It should be: One map ends, new one begins. I hate playing on the same map twice and in 90% of cases it's insta-quit for me.

I agree with this, but I prefer something around 75-80 minutes. 45 minutes is waaaay too short, since you would be lucky to make it to SaKhan in this amount of time. Even on Matchbox-TX, which now has 100 minute long rounds, I've seen just as many matches with a Khan on either team as I have without. 100 minutes just seems to drag on after 80 or so minutes. 60 minutes seems on the short side to me. Where's the 75 min option?  ???

I like the longer games to give more time for all players to get leveled up a bit, I find the shorter the timer the more likely a small group of players that know each other use the transfer cbills option to get Assault mechs early. Long timer rounds generally have people handing out the cbills, giving the newer players more experience with the game.

Unfortunately people do get bored and quit, but since there are so few maps does playing one of them for a longer period really become boring?

I wouldn't mind a cbill cap option server side for light/medium mech servers. That would be a blast once in a while.

I voted 60 min.  The beginning of the match is the best part in my opinion, as this is where players with more skill shine.  It's also just much more hectic and in your face then standoff ELRMS, Long Toms, and Gauss Snipers.  The 60 minute length allows the high of the early game to not fade entirely while still giving enough time for players to reach higher ranks and play with all the toys.

I routinely get bored in longer matches, and often end up trying random things to see how they work.

I wouldn't mind a cbill cap option server side for light/medium mech servers. That would be a blast once in a while.

This is why I don't get people who want to rank up slower. I would prefer 45 minute matchs, but would like to be able to make Khan and play as Khan with 10 minutes to spare.

I'd like to see this as well however for me it would have to wait until we get a few more medium mechs and prices for tanks get sorted out. As it is currently I completely skip over medium mechs because none of them currently fit my style of play.

I liked 45 minute matches even before the 0.2.0 patch, but it was pretty obvious only a few people were good enough to ride the expensive assault mechs.

The new money changes seems to allow for more quicker access to assaults, but I'm not betting on it remaining the way it is. 60 minutes is ideal enough that any more money changes will allow for enough people to reach assaults while allowing good players to play in assaults longer and with money to spare/give. Anything more than that and matches get boring.

Personally I want a 55 min option :p but I'll go with 60.

More than than that I start getting MWLL fatigue and feel like my rise to the higher ranks is less significant when there's 6 other GCs running around.

i had to go with 45min.  60 isn't bad.  But yeah, those 1hr 40 min matches are just ugh...  and basically anything over 60 is ugh...  just gets old being on one map for so long.

I like the 45min though because thats about the amount of time it takes to go from lights to assaults with equal amount of time in each class.  Gives a nice balance methinks

Oh god I just deleted my whole reply.

1) 75 minutes.  The end game is flush with assaults because those are the chassis that people rarely get to play and because team death match rewards sheer firepower more than any other factor.
2) A change in gameplay type would redistribute the combat roles away from sheer firepower and add multi-dimensionality
3) Map geographies that cater to smaller assets and act as deathtraps for assault class mechs are called for.  A slot-canyon or a side street where assault mechs could perhaps peer down but not follow.
4) I prefer the longer games because it gives me an opportunity to pilot mechs that I rarely get to pilot.
