Is anyone here using SSD?
« on: March 10, 2010, 07:32:50 AM »
Im getting pretty choppy gameplay with my 5870 and i5 750. Part of it is cause im using 5760x1200 resolution, but I have shaders on low so I thought it would be at least smooth. I wonder if going SSD would help.

I hate to say it, but it won't help.

You're using eyfinity, an insane resolution and MWLL is a very demanding game. I guess choppy gameplay is only to be expected.

SSD drive affects level load time, not the gameplay itself unless you seriously lack the RAM memory.

4800x900 on all high i get 30-40 fps with a phenom 955/5870- that extra bit of resolution may be the cause- try lowering the resolution to see if you are still lagging- 5870's have their limitations just like every other card

I have and use an SSD. SSD will not effect FPS at all, ever. In fact it doesn't help on loading much at all either. I find ram is far far more important when it comes to loading screens.

SSD allow you to install, copy, paste, etc new files on the drive very very quickly and easily. Even searching without index is quick as hell. But it won't help your gaming.

You only have one option to get better FPS when your running insne res like that. Buy more Graphic cards. XD

Or run a slightly less insane resolution.

The drivers I'm on only allows native. I think newer ones allow me to scale down, but 10.1s screwed up my power save. I'll look into 10.3s to see if that got fixed.

Set your shadows to low. They eat up a lot. Disable AA if you have it on too. Even more savings.

I set it to 2400x600, and it is still a bit choppy, especially with zooming.
