By the 31st century, humanity has
spread to thousands of worlds, while a handful of powerful empires wage
continual war for the right to rule the stars. Foremost among the weapons
used in that struggle are BattleMechs. Loaded with auto cannons, missile
launchers, lasers, and charged-particle beam weapons, these fusion-powered
war machines of articulated armor stand upward of fourteen meters tall.
Piloting them are MechWarrior’s, the best, most intensively trained men and
women available. Like the armored knights of an earlier age, MechWarrior’s
are popular heroes, and their exploits are the stuff of legends. Will you
become a a forgotten casualty or a Living Legend?
In this month’s edition, the team behind MWLL
would like to show you some of the different models we have been
working on. Below are the current assets that are being worked on
before they are sent down the production pipeline to the texture
artists. Here is this month's completed high poly count game assets.

2. Level Design Team Works in Progress
In this month’s edition, the team behind MWLL
would like to show you some of the different levels that our Level
Design team have been working on within the Crytek2 Engine. Below are a few pictures that show
off two Solaris Arena Maps - Frostbite, and Tropic - as well one of
our Trial of Annihilation Maps - Cold Steel.
We would also like to present a video to you of the Water Fall that
is present in the Solaris Arena map "Tropic".
Here at MWLL, our Animation team has finished the rig for our Clan
Elemental for in Game. Unlike the videos seen on the website, these
are custom made rigs created by our Animation Team. Below are a few
Pose examples of how the Elemental can be seen to move.
The MWLL Programming team has gone out of their way to provide glimpse
into the
future release of an external MWLL specific Installer and Updater.
Install your game quickly and within minutes you will be playing
What does this mean to me? This means that upon release of MWLL, you may be able to install
and run MWLL within minutes of finishing your download. There will be no
need for moving files around or replacing files within your Crysis directory, as
the installer will automatically do it for you.
Keep up to date with our external MWLL Updater
As an added bonus, our programming team have put long hours into creating
the external updater that checks for any recent updates from one of our
master servers to make sure that you are up to date with any new patch
releases. This tool will automatically run after you've installed as well it
will be tied into your game to remind you once the latest updates are
available.
5. Meet the Devs
In this months edition we would like to
introduce UnderTaker
Greetings Warriors! My name is Merv Thornton “UnderTaker” and I am one of the Modelers for MechWarrior: Living Legends . To cover some of the basics I am 47 years old and a father of 3 and live in Okanagan Falls British Columbia Canada. Some of you may recognize my name from the glory days of MechWarrior 4 and Battle Zone 4 where I was a member of Squadron of Apocalypse {SoA} for a number of years.
I took a wild flying stab at doing a “mech mod” myself a few years ago with the idea of basing it around Unreal 2004. I was slowly teaching myself the ins and outs of modeling and texturing and some minor ventures into the land of inverse kinematics when I made the #1 serious mistake a person starting out on something of this magnitude by answering a fellow MW4 gamer when he asked "Why aren't you playing MW4 much anymore?". Well of course I thought not much of it and answered "Oh I am working on getting a mod going for Mech in Unreal 2004". Little did I know just how quick a slip of the tongue can get out of hand. My friend told 2 friends and those 2 told 2 friends and....you can guess the rest. Before I knew it I was getting up to 100 emails a day asking me "When it will be ready?" and "How come you haven't finished it yet?" . Safe to say, I wasn’t getting the most encouraging of emails. However, other messages that I got included a few people that hooked me up with a bunch of Mechs done in 3DS with their full blessings. But alas I quickly came to terms with there was no way I could do any of it alone and after having a FULL out Hard Drive melt down, I threw in the towel.
So this summer, I once again got the old pull to get into a mech. The hay-days of MW4 were far from over, so I decided to go onto Mod-DB and search up “MechMod” and Lo and Behold I came across MechWarrior: Living Legends! After some further research I quickly learned there were some people I knew from my Old MW4 days here and the rest is now history.
I hope you all enjoy this month’s newsletter and we’ll see you on the Battlefield!
6. MWLL Partnered with Meshfolk
Recently MWLL has partnered up with Meshfolk, a 3D studio company that
sells their creations to Companies for use in both TV commercials and
use in Hollywood movies.
As seen in our previous newsletter, Meshfolk has already done some fantastic
work for MWLL. Both the
Longinus Battlesuit and the
Hawkmoth VTOL were hand
crafted by Meshfolk's team of brilliant 3D Artists.
It is no doubt that Meshfolk will be up to the challenge of bringing more
top notch models to MWLL.
Over the month of November, MWLL held a Female Computer Voice (or Betty)
Contest. This contest was made so that the community could chip in to
the developmental process of MWLL. Since we needed a Voice that would
perform the various notifications to you in your pilot seat within a
Mech, we had to make sure to pick the best Female Voice within the
contest.
After numerous excellent entries submitted by the community the time came
where we had to choose one. The MWLL Devs gathered together and casted
their votes. The Votes were based on - Personality, Enthusiasm, Control,
Articulation, Understandability, and Tone of Voice.
Since there were so many excellent choices to choose from it was hard to
pick only one. However, we could only pick the best for both English and
German versions.
We thank all volunteers for contributing their voices to the MWLL Betty
Contest, as you support is truly appreciated.

Bruce Contest Announced!
With a successful Betty Contest concluding the month of November with both
a German and English submission, we've decided to kick off the month of
December with a Bruce Contest!
Bruce, is the male version of the Battlemech and Vehicle Computers that
we will be using for MW:LL, as far as we know, there have been no male
versions in MechWarrior.
Since we have way more males participating in the Mechwarrior universe
than females, we expect this one to be BIG and include MANY submissions!
Unlike the previous one however, this time we will announce that there
WILL be two winners! English and German versions.
The winner(s) will be showcased in the December Newsletter for MW:LL and
included into the first release of the mod! As an enticement, winners
will be getting Early Beta Access when it becomes available
